By Express News Service BENGALURU: The Pre-university college students in the state can download their textbooks from the coming academic year instead of buying them. Following a state government order, the Department of Pre University Education has adopted NCERT textbooks for PUC for Accountancy, Economics and Business Studies from the 2017-18 academic year. In a statement, director of PUE department C Shikha said, “We have taken necessary measures to supply textbooks on time. Apart from that, the books will be uploaded on the website so that students can download them.” For the first time, PUE department has decided to adopt NCERT-prescribed textbooks even for Commerce and Arts streams. It had adopted NCERT textbooks for Science stream in 2013-14 academic year. To train lecturers in the newly adopted syllabus, the department has scheduled 15 days training in Accountancy, Economics and Business Studies. The training will begin on May 15 for lecturers of both government and aided PU colleges. The state government will provide `500 per day to the lecturers who undergo the training.
